Dr. Frank Griffel

Biography

Frank Griffel is a professor specializing in the Study of Abrahamic Religions at the University of Oxford and a fellow at Lady Margaret Hall. He has published extensively in the fields of Islamic philosophy, theology, and Muslim intellectual history. His scholarly focus includes the history of philosophy in Islam and Judaism, particularly during the post-classical period of the 11th century. He is recognized as a leading theologian and philosopher of al-Ghazālī and has translated several works into Turkish and Arabic. Griffel previously held the position of Louis M. Rabinowitz Professor Emeritus of Religious Studies at Yale University.
