Biography

Frank Kozielski is a Professor of Pharmaceutical Chemical Biology at University College London's School of Pharmacy. He studied chemistry with a focus on biochemistry, completing his PhD at the University of Hamburg in collaboration with the Max Planck Institute for Structural Biology at Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron (DESY). Following his doctoral studies, he spent 11 years as a team leader at the French Atomic Commission (CEA) and later became a Senior Group Leader at the Beatson Institute for Cancer Research in Glasgow. In 2013, he transitioned to University College London, expanding his research interests to encompass antibacterial and antiviral drug targets. His current work focuses on medically relevant coronaviruses and is supported by the Medical Research Council (MRC). He has held various administrative roles, including Head of Research at the School, and has actively contributed to teaching across MPharm and MSc courses, covering topics such as cancer treatment, early drug discovery, and drug development. He was awarded the Student Choice Teaching Award for his exceptional contributions to teaching and learning at UCL.
