Biography

Born in Ottawa, Frank Lozano began his musical studies in Toronto under the tutelage of Pat LaBarbera and later studied with Jerry Bergonzi in Boston. He has toured extensively across Canada, including places like St. John's in Newfoundland and Dawson City in the Yukon, and has also performed in Europe. As a versatile musician, Frank has collaborated with a range of notable artists such as Michel Donato, Slide Hampton, Donny McCaslin, Craig Taborn, Ted Nash, Karen Young, Paul McCandless, and David Binney. He is a member of various groups, including the Thom Gossage Voices, the Josh Rager Sextet, the Effendi Jazzlab, the Altsys Jazz Orchestra, and the Isaiah Ceccarelli Ensemble. In 2006, he received a studio residency grant from the Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Québec, which allowed him to spend six months in New York City to focus on practicing and composing. He has released a CD as a leader titled 'Colour Fields,' featuring musicians Jim Lewis, Kim Ratcliffe, John Geggie, and Jean Martin. His recent project, Frank Lozano Mtl 4, includes François Bourassa on piano, Thom Gossage on drums, and Adrian Vedady on bass.
