Biography

Frank M. Shipman is a Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Texas A&M University. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Colorado in 1993. He also holds an M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Colorado, earned in 1990, and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Rice University, obtained in 1988. His research interests focus on intelligent user interfaces, hypertext, computer education, multimedia, and new media, emphasizing computer design, computer-human interaction, and computer-supported cooperative work. He has received numerous awards and honors recognizing his contributions to the field, including the TEES Center Fellow distinction in 2014 and the ACM Distinguished Scientist title in 2009. Moreover, he was awarded the Google Research Award in 2009 and has been recognized for his student paper at ACM UIST 2002, among other accolades.
