Biography

Frank Thuijsman is a full professor in Strategic Optimization and Data Science at Maastricht University, where he has been a faculty member since 1990. His areas of expertise include (Dynamic Evolutionary) Game Theory, Operations Research, Markov Decision Theory, Stochastic Processes, and Data Science Mathematics. He has served as the secretary treasurer of the Game Theory Society since 2023, and has held important visiting positions, such as at the University of California at Los Angeles and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Thuijsman has been involved in the organization of the Data Science and Artificial Intelligence bachelor program and the corresponding master programs. He is the initiator of the KE@Work honors program, which has allowed over 200 students to combine academic studies with hands-on experience in local businesses since 2014. Currently, he is leading a World Bank funded project aimed at supporting the University of Burundi in developing a new Computer Science bachelor program. Over his career, he has transitioned from assistant to associate professor, and finally to full professor, reflecting his substantial contributions to the fields of mathematics and data science.
