Biography

Frank Thuijsman is a full professor in Strategic Optimization Data Science at Maastricht University. His expertise encompasses Dynamic Evolutionary Game Theory, Operations Research, Markov Decision Theory, Stochastic Processes, and Data Science Mathematics. He has published extensively on Game Theory across a variety of domains and has held visiting positions in the Departments of Mathematics at the University of California at Los Angeles and at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He has played a crucial role in organizing the Data Science and Artificial Intelligence bachelor program, as well as the master programs in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science Decision Making. In addition, he founded the KE@Work honors program, which integrates practical experience with academic studies for students in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. Since 2025, he has been leading a project funded by the World Bank at Maastricht University that aims to support the University of Burundi in establishing a Computer Science bachelor program through Project Centered Learning. With a robust academic career that began with his PhD in Mathematics from Maastricht University, he has progressed from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor and then to Full Professor at the Department of Advanced Computing Sciences.
