Biography

Frank Weerman is an Endowed Professor of Criminology at the Erasmus School of Law, Erasmus University Rotterdam. With a significant background in criminology, he has dedicated his research to understanding youth crime and the motivations behind youth possession of weapons. His work often merges scientific insights with practical applications, aiming to enhance strategies for dealing with juvenile delinquency. He has been a prominent figure in various research activities and projects that focus on crime and law enforcement. Weerman started his career as a senior researcher at the Netherlands Institute for the Study of Crime and Law Enforcement (NSCR) in August 2000. He has a Master's degree in criminology and has been involved in impactful research that contributes to the academic community and public understanding of crime-related issues.
