Biography

Professor Young’s teaching and research interests focus on legal, socio-political, and economic issues impacting Indigenous nations. His work is inspired by his practice in areas such as Indigenous trusts, business law, secured transactions, commercial law, and litigation funding. He has served as Regional Vice President at RBC Indigenous Trust Services in western Canada. His research explores ways to provide pathways for Indigenous communities to become self-sustaining and self-determined by engaging in economic development initiatives that improve their socio-economic well-being without compromising their culture, law, and tradition.
