Dr. Franklin Allen

Biography

Franklin Allen is a Professor of Finance at Imperial College London, where he has served as the Executive Director of the Brevan Howard Centre since July 2014. He held the position of Associate Dean for Faculty Research in the Business School from August 2019 to June 2023 and is currently the Interim Dean until August 2024. Prior to joining Imperial College, Allen was a faculty member at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania from September 1980 until June 2016, where he was honored as an Emeritus faculty and held various significant roles, including Vice Dean and Director of Wharton Doctoral Programs. He has served as the Executive Editor of the Review of Financial Studies and the Managing Editor of the Review of Finance. His contributions to the academic community include serving as past President of multiple associations, such as the American Finance Association and the Financial Management Association. Allen's academic background includes a doctorate from Oxford University and his research focuses primarily on corporate finance, asset pricing, and financial crises. He is also known for co-authoring the widely used textbook 'Principles of Corporate Finance' across multiple editions with Richard Brealey and Stewart Myers.
