Dr. Frans Van Der Sluis

Biography

Frans van der Sluis is an Associate Professor at the University of Copenhagen, specializing as an interdisciplinary scientist in user interaction with search filtering systems. His primary research focuses on how users retrieve and filter information to enhance their learning and ignite their interests. He aims to tailor information systems that facilitate effective transformation of information into knowledge. His research interests encompass human-information interaction, human curiosity and interest, epistemic emotions, interactive information retrieval, information filtering, online learning, and text analysis. He earned a BSc in Psychology in 2006 and a MSc in 2008, followed by a PhD in 2013 on interactive information retrieval and filtering. van der Sluis has also held academic positions, both visiting and permanent, at institutions such as the University of Twente, Glasgow University, and Leiden University as well as private research centers including Philips’ Innovation Lab and Novay.
