Dr. Franziska Bork Petersen

Biography

Franziska Bork-Petersen is an Associate Professor at the University of Copenhagen, with a research focus on techniques and practices of staging and modifying the human body. Her work engages with a diverse range of examples including ballet, footwear, and cosmetic surgery, exploring how bodies appear and interact across various performance platforms. Her research intersects performance studies, mises en scène, and the transformation of performativity. She is currently involved in a project titled 'Knowing Motion: Dance, Body, Archive,' which examines the archival knowledge of dance costumes and their impact on the moving body. Bork-Petersen holds a PhD in Theatre Studies from Stockholm University and Freie Universität Berlin and has served as a guest lecturer at both the Danish School of Performing Arts and Stockholm University. Her academic contributions include lectures and memberships in organizational committees, contributing to the broader discourse in dance studies, fashion studies, and body studies.
