Biography

Fred Boadu received a B.S. (Honors) in Geological Engineering from the University of Science and Technology, Ghana, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Applied Geophysics from McGill University, an M.S. in Geophysics from the University of Calgary, and a Ph.D. from Georgia Institute of Technology in 1994. He worked as an Assistant Lecturer at the University of Science and Technology's School of Mines from 1982 to 1984 and later engaged with oil companies (Chevron, Amoco, Mobil) during summer months on various research projects. His research focuses on exploration engineering and environmental geophysics, specifically characterizing transport and storage properties of porous media, fractured rocks, soils, and human tissue using modeling, laboratory experiments, and field studies. He has also been involved in research addressing nitrate contamination of groundwater and raising educational awareness about health hazards in Ghana.
