Biography

Frederic Koehler is an incoming Assistant Professor of Statistics Data Science at the University of Chicago starting January 2024. He is currently a Motwani Postdoctoral Fellow at Stanford University. Previously, he was a research fellow at UC Berkeley’s Simons Institute, where he focused on Computational Complexity and Statistical Inference. Frederic earned his PhD in Mathematics and Statistics from MIT, where he was coadvised by Ankur Moitra and Elchanan Mossel. He also holds an undergraduate degree in Mathematics from Princeton University. His current research interests include topics in computational learning theory, probability theory, high-dimensional statistics, optimization, and aspects related to statistical physics. In particular, he has a keen interest in learning and inference for graphical models.
