Dr. Frederick Feit

Biography

Frederick Feit, MD, is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Medicine at New York University. His work primarily focuses on addressing the persistent clinical problem of restenosis affecting 30 percent of patients six months after angioplasty. Annually, he performs approximately 2,000 diagnostic angiography catheterizations and 500 angioplasties at NYU Medical Center. His studies investigate the biological basis of restenosis, specifically the biological response that attempts to heal artery damage, which is mediated by growth factors. Feit is exploring new procedures in atherectomy and stent implantation, although the long-term effectiveness of these methods is still uncertain, indicating that further research is necessary. His research efforts are conducted in collaboration with the Medical Center's basic scientists to better understand and address the issues surrounding restenosis. Feit's dedication to improving post-angioplasty outcomes is reflected in his innovative research and clinical practice.
