Biography

Frédérick Antoine Mallette is a full professor at the University of Montreal in the Faculty of Medicine. His research focuses on the mechanisms by which normal cells avoid genetic mutations that contribute to cancer formation, as well as the role of cellular senescence and histone methylation in this process. He is particularly interested in histone demethylases and their implications in cellular processes like the cell cycle, gene regulation, and DNA damage response. His long-term objective is to elucidate the role of epigenetic modifications in cancer, which could lead to new therapeutic developments. Mallette holds the Canada Research Chair in Epigenetics of Cancer and Aging and is affiliated with the CIUSSS de l'Est-de-l'Île-de-Montréal – Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont. He supervises graduate students and has several ongoing research projects focused on the regulation of cholesterol metabolism, therapeutic vulnerabilities in childhood leukemia, and age-related pathologies.
