Biography

Frederick Simmons' research and teaching focus on Christian ethics and the implications of natural sciences on Christian thought. He received his B.A. in Philosophy from Carleton College, his M.Div. from Yale Divinity School, and his Ph.D. in Religious Ethics from Yale University. Current projects include examining the religious and societal significance of astrobiology, the implications of ecology for Christian value theory, and the notions of environmental pessimism and Christian hope, as well as the moral resources within Christianity that can contribute to climate ethics.
