Biography

Fred holds a BSc in Construction Engineering Management from Loughborough University, an MSc in Management from the University of Bath, and a PhD in Management from the University of Bath. Prior to joining Warwick Business School (WBS), he gained professional experience in the construction sector as an energy analyst in London. His research focuses on understanding how companies respond to global sustainability challenges through their business strategies, management practices, and corporate governance systems. A specific stream of his research examines the factors that shape how companies address climate change and reduce corporate carbon emissions. Fred is also interested in the emerging phenomenon of purpose ecosystems and the role of wider earth system governance in sustainability transformations. His research addresses the ethical implications of the Anthropocene for business managers. Fred's research is published in journals including Organization Studies, Business Ethics Quarterly, Business Strategy & Environment, Journal of Business Ethics, Environmental Science & Policy, Earth System Governance, and Anthropocene Review. He serves as an Associate Editor for the journal Business & Society and sits on the editorial review board of Organization & Environment. Fred is a Senior Research Fellow at the Earth System Governance network and is a member of the ESG Taskforces on Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on Private Governance Partnerships for SDGs and Governance of Nature and Biodiversity.
