Biography

Frederik T. (Erik) Schut is a Professor of Health Economics and Health Policy at the Erasmus School of Health Policy and Management at Erasmus University Rotterdam. He received his Ph.D. in Health Economics with honors from Erasmus University in 1995. His teaching and research focus on competition, regulation, consumer behavior in healthcare, and the dynamics of long-term care markets. Schut has extensively published on these topics and collaborates with the Netherlands Bureau for Economic Policy Analysis (CPB). He has contributed to various advisory committees for the Dutch government regarding healthcare sector reforms, financing in primary care, and the interplay between private health insurance and long-term care insurance. Additionally, he served as a member of the Advisory Board of the Dutch Healthcare Authority (NZa) and as an advisory member of the Social and Economic Council (SER).
