Biography

Fredrik Fällman is a Senior Lecturer in Sinology at the University of Gothenburg. He earned his PhD from Stockholm University in 2004 after defending his dissertation on 'cultural Christians' in contemporary China. His academic journey includes undergraduate studies in Chinese language at Beijing and a focus on Modern Chinese history in Wuhan during the 1990s. He actively engages in teaching a variety of courses related to Chinese history, religion, and language. Fällman has also coordinated programs at the Nordic Confucius Institute and has participated in numerous academic panels and discussions addressing significant issues related to China. He has published extensively on topics including cultural exchange, Christian missions in China, and the impact of propaganda on nationalism.
