Generate a tailored SOP for Dr. Fredrik Höök. Improve your application with a focused, well-structured draft.
Fredrik Höök received his PhD in Physics from Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden, in 1997. His research has focused on the development of surface-based bioanalytical tools, including Quartz Crystal Microbalance with Dissipation (QCM-D), localized Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR), and Total Internal Reflection Fluorescence (TIRF) microscopy. His work integrates microfluidics with fundamental studies of cell-membrane mimics for diagnostic drug-screening applications. Currently, his efforts are directed towards new methods for single-molecule sensitivity studies of membrane proteins and viral infection, as well as the development of microfluidic platforms for cell-membrane chromatography. He also investigates sophisticated surface modifications and nanofabrication schemes that enhance analysis supported by cell-membrane mimics and study membrane protein-virus binding interactions. He is a co-founder of Q-Sense, where he has been a lead developer of QCM-D instruments. His notable accolades include an Individual Grant for Advancement of Research Leaders from the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research in 2006 and the Göran Gustafsson Prize in Physics from the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences in 2012.
General requirements apply to all departments listed at Chalmers. Specific departments like Architecture require a portfolio. Programs in Management/Economics do not strictly require GMAT/GRE but high academic standing is prioritized.
