Biography

Fredrik Bergh Thorén is a Professor in the Department of Medical Biochemistry and Cell Biology at the University of Gothenburg, focusing on Medical Cell Biology and immune interactions in cancer. He obtained his PhD in 2007, studying cell death pathways in oxidant-exposed lymphocytes. Subsequently, he completed postdoctoral studies on innate immune crosstalk between natural killer (NK) cells and neutrophils in labs in Italy with Professors Alessandro Moretta and Lorenzo Moretta. Thorén has established his lab with a focus on NK cell interactions with immune cells and malignant cells. His research interests include mechanisms of relapse prevention in acute myeloid leukemia and the role of immune cells in cancer therapy.
