Freek J. Beekman is a full professor and head of the Biomedical Imaging section at Delft University of Technology. He has (co-)authored approximately 165 peer-reviewed journal papers and book chapters and is an inventor of more than 20 patent families. He has received multiple awards for his scientific contributions and innovations in the field of biomedical imaging. He was presented with the Edward Hoffman Memorial Award in 2017 and the Bruce Hasegawa Memorial Award in 2021. Freek is also the founder of MILabs BV which develops and markets high-performance imaging systems, serving as CEO from 2006 to 2021 before successfully selling MILabs to Rigaku Japan. The imaging systems developed under his leadership have led to significant discoveries that support the development of new tracers and pharmaceuticals.
