Biography

Friederike Ebner studied biotechnology at the Technical University of Berlin and Dongseo University in Busan, South Korea. She worked as a research associate in cell neurobiology at Charité University Hospital and earned her PhD in biology from Humboldt University Berlin in 2014. Following her PhD, she conducted research and taught as a postdoctoral fellow in immunology at the Department of Veterinary Medicine at Freie Universität Berlin. In 2021, she was appointed as an assistant professor, and in January 2023, she became a Professor of Infection Pathogenesis at the Technical University of Munich. Her research focuses on immunobiology, particularly regarding parasite infections, and she investigates the interactions between gastrointestinal helminths and the immune systems of animals and humans. Her goal is to understand immunity to these parasites and to develop intervention and vaccination approaches. She also develops infection disease models applicable in biomedicine and human medicine.
