Biography

Fritjof Fagerlund is a professor of Geohydrology at Uppsala University, where he has focused his research on subsurface flow transport processes influenced by reaction processes. His main areas of interest include the fate and transport of per- polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and the geological storage of carbon dioxide, as well as contaminants like chlorinated organics. Fagerlund teaches courses related to groundwater contaminant transport and examines MSc theses in Environmental Water Engineering. He earned his PhD in Hydrology from Uppsala University in 2007 and has worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Colorado School of Mines in the USA. He became an associate professor in Hydrology in 2012 and was appointed to his current professorship in 2020. In addition, Fagerlund was recognized as a distinguished university teacher by the Faculty of Science and Technology at Uppsala University in 2021. He has also served as a visiting researcher at Sweden's Geological Survey, contributing 20% of his time from 2012 to 2015.
