Dr. Fue Sang Lien

Biography

Fue-Sang Lien is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Mechatronics Engineering at the University of Waterloo. His research interests focus on computational fluid dynamics, turbulence modeling, wind engineering dispersion, and aerodynamics. He leads the Waterloo Computational Fluid Dynamics Engineering Consulting and has been involved in significant academic contributions since the late 1990s, including being a member of the Scientific Committee for the 4th International Symposium on Wind Engineering in 2006 and the Computational Fluid Dynamics Society of Canada from 1998 to 2006. Currently, he is also associated with IMMERSE – a Research Network for Video Game Immersion. His expertise includes utilizing simulations in virtual environments to prepare responders for catastrophic events involving chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive materials. Lien's academic background includes a Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology, and both a Master's and Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from National Cheng Kung University.
