Fung Lab is dedicated to advancing the understanding of the neural bases of human socio-communicative cognitive functions through novel neuroimaging and bioanalytical technologies. The lab aims to devise and implement innovative interventions to improve the lives of neurodiverse individuals, maximizing their potential and productivity. Current projects include investigating the neurodiversity concept, where individual differences in brain function and behavioral traits are regarded as part of the normal variation within the human population. The lab also explores molecular neuroimaging in adults with autism spectrum disorder, using state-of-the-art systems to characterize the GABAergic system and its association with socio-communicative functions. Other key initiatives focus on digital phenotyping in developmental disorders, understanding the neural basis of absolute pitch in individuals with ASD, and establishing biomarkers related to social anxiety symptoms. Vocational training studies aim to enhance employment opportunities for neurodiverse individuals, while developing assessment tools to measure musical abilities in this population.
The Computer Science department emphasizes research potential. GRE General is currently optional but recommended for some tracks.
