Dr. Fusun Ozer

Biography

Dr. Fusun Ozer is a Professor of Restorative Dentistry at Penn Dental Medicine. Before joining Penn Dental Medicine in 2008, Dr. Ozer served as Chair of Restorative Dentistry at Selcuk University Faculty of Dentistry in Turkey for 10 years. She completed her PhD in Operative Dentistry at Marmara University Faculty of Dentistry in 1991. Dr. Ozer has a broad research background in adhesive dentistry, focusing on material adhesion and developing biologically stable adhesive/dentin interfaces. Her recent research interests include the effects of zeolite incorporation on the long-term antibacterial and anticariogenic properties of silver reinforced glass ionomer cements. Dr. Ozer conducts clinical research studies related to dental materials and collaborates with national and international researchers and institutions, having published many peer-reviewed papers in the field of dental materials, particularly in Adhesive Dentistry. She has held various faculty appointments at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, including Professor of Restorative Dentistry since 2023 and Associate Professor from 2015 to 2023. Dr. Ozer has also served as an Adjunct Professor at Bahcesehir International University in Istanbul, Turkey, and in previous roles at Selcuk University.
