Dr. Gab Abramowitz

Biography

Gab Abramowitz is a researcher at the Climate Change Research Centre at the University of New South Wales. His research focuses on modeling natural systems and understanding how these models can be useful for making inferences about natural systems. He works primarily with climate, hydrology, and ecology models, emphasizing evaluation, benchmarking, and uncertainty assessment. As a Chief Investigator at the ARC Centre of Excellence for Climate Extremes, he is dedicated to understanding the scope and extent of climate model projections and developing meaningful model evaluation strategies. Abramowitz leads the development of modelevaluation.org, a web application that provides automated evaluation and benchmarking tools for land surface, hydrological, and ecological models, using observational data sets. His main research interests include land surface model benchmarking, model dependence assessment, and multi-model ensemble climate prediction.
