Dr. Gaben Sanchez

Biography

Gaben Sanchez joined the School of Social Work at the University of Victoria in July 2022. With a Master's in Social Work from the University of Utah, Gaben has two decades of experience working with lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, and queer individuals in various community settings across the United States. His teaching experience includes roles at the University of Utah. Gaben's academic pursuits are rooted in a philosophical framework that combines poststructuralism, critical theory, and post-colonialism, focusing on the implementation of anti-racist principles in education. He emphasizes creating an inclusive classroom environment while critically examining the challenges presented by traditional Western, European, and North American methodologies in academia.
