Dr. Gabriel Wainer

Biography

Gabriel Wainer is a distinguished professor in the Department of Systems and Computer Engineering at Carleton University. He has significantly contributed to the field of modeling and simulation and has been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the 2022 McLeod Founder Award for distinguished service to the profession by the Society for Modeling and Simulation International (SCS). His notable achievements include being appointed as a Fellow of SCS in 2016, and receiving multiple awards such as the IEEE Outstanding Engineering Award and the Outstanding Professional Achievement Award from SCS. Wainer has been actively involved in disseminating technical literature and has had a discernible impact on modeling and simulation practices. He is recognized for his work in discrete-event modeling and has served as a Distinguished Speaker for the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). He also holds a Ph.D. from Buenos Aires and champions various collaborative projects in the field.
