Gabriel Zayas-Cabán is an Associate Professor in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, with an affiliation in the BerbeeWalsh Department of Emergency Medicine. He holds degrees from the University of South Florida and Cornell University, where he specialized in Applied Mathematics. His research interests are centered around operations research, particularly with an emphasis on healthcare delivery, care transitions, and the application of Markov decision processes. Furthermore, he focuses on queueing, scheduling, and causal inference methodologies to understand the impacts of emergency department admission decisions, organizational factors, and patient outcomes.
