Dr. Gabriela Contreras

Biography

Gabriela (Gaby) Contreras is an Assistant Professor in Business Economics at Radboud University, with a research focus on the intersection of gender studies, sociology, economics, business, and sustainability. Her work investigates the role of social networks in perpetuating barriers to gender equality in top management. Gaby's multidisciplinary research has been featured in leading journals such as The Lancet, World Development, and PLoS. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Manufacturing Systems Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington, a Master's degree in Industrial Engineering Operations Research from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Master's degree in Multidisciplinary Economics from Utrecht University. In 2016, she earned her Doctor of Philosophy degree in Finance from Maastricht University. Prior to her academic career, Gaby worked in various roles, including Assistant Vice-President and Quantitative Risk Associate at Bank of America. She is involved in several research projects, including 'Networks in Mind: Navigating Networks and Gender Biases in the Workplace,' receiving funding from organizations such as NWO and the European Academy of Management.
