Biography

Professor Gabriela Czanner obtained her PhD in Statistics from the University of Pittsburgh, USA, in 2004. She also holds MA degrees in Economics and Statistics from the University of Pittsburgh (1999, 2002) and an MSc in Mathematical Statistics and Probability from Comenius University, Slovakia (1994). She has worked as a Reader in Statistics at Liverpool John Moores University from 2018 to 2024 and as a Lecturer at the University of Liverpool from 2012 to 2018. Her previous roles include Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Warwick (2010-2012, 2007-2008) and positions at the University of Oxford (2009-2010) and Harvard Medical School at Massachusetts General Hospital, USA (2004-2007). Professor Czanner's research focuses on spatial statistical models applied to clinical images to help understand diseases, longitudinal spatio-temporal models for early detection, screening, and monitoring of illnesses, and uncertainty quantification in predictions using statistical machine learning models.
