Biography

Gabriele Villarini is a professor of Civil Environmental Engineering at the High Meadows Environmental Institute. His research interests broadly encompass water and climate issues, focusing on flood hydrology, extreme events, hydroclimatology, and climate predictions and projections. Villarini has received numerous national and international awards, including the Hydrological Sciences Outstanding Young Scientist Award from the European Geosciences Union in 2013 and the James B. Macelwane Medal from the American Geophysical Union in 2016. He is also a Fellow of the American Geophysical Union since 2016. Over his career, he has published over 240 peer-reviewed papers and articles in prestigious journals such as Nature, Science, Nature Climate Change, Nature Reviews Earth & Environment, and Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. He serves as Editor-in-Chief of Advances in Water Resources.
