Biography

Gabriella Elgenius is a Professor at the University of Gothenburg in the Department of Sociology and Work Science. She obtained her doctorate from the London School of Economics and Political Science in 2005 and has previously held a British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Oxford. Gabriella's research primarily focuses on political sociology, civil society, integration of vulnerable areas, and the rise of ethnic nationalism and populism. Currently, she leads several research projects, including 'LOCALiTIES', which investigates the role of civil society in employability within multicultural neighborhoods in Sweden and the UK, and 'RETHINKING INTEGRATION', focusing on civil society responses to integration challenges. She has affiliations with the University of Oxford and is a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts in London. Her work has been acknowledged in numerous publications addressing the challenges of migration, nationalism, and social integration.
