Professor Dr. Gabrielle Garon Carrier

Biography

Gabrielle Garon-Carrier is an Associate Professor at the Université de Sherbrooke's Faculty of Education, specializing in psychoeducation. Her research interests encompass various topics including school readiness, parental leave, child educational services, motivation and academic performance, numeracy, self-determination needs, and both internalized and externalized behaviors in educational contexts. She is involved with several research groups, focusing on psychosocial adaptation in children and maintaining mental health from an early age. Garon-Carrier's academic journey includes a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Psychology from Goldsmiths University of London and a PhD in Psychology from Université Laval. She has received numerous awards for her contributions to research, including the Investigator of the Year accolade from the CHUS Research Centre and other distinctions recognizing her innovative works in early childhood education and health. Garon-Carrier's work not only highlights the importance of understanding early-life determinants of child well-being but also aims at influencing educational policy and practices for the betterment of vulnerable populations. She actively engages in research that informs community practices and partners with various institutions to foster educational equity and promote positive developmental outcomes in children.
