Dr. Gaby Pfeifer

Biography

Gaby Pfeifer is a lecturer in Psychology at the University of Southampton specializing in experimental psychology, cognitive neuroscience, and biological psychology. Her research primarily focuses on interoception and its relationship with emotional processing and personality across the lifespan. Gaby's work investigates the mind-body connection, exploring how changes in interoception and personality variations affect emotional experiences, cognition, and both mental and physical health. She employs a blend of subjective measures and behavioral as well as physiological techniques in her research. In her teaching role, Gaby supervises students across various programs including Bachelor's, Master's, and PhD candidates within the Developmental Psychology module. She takes an active role in student employability initiatives, frequently engaging in public speaking about career planning and offering guidance on work-based learning opportunities such as internships and placements. Gaby is also a member of the Centre for Innovation in Mental Health, where she leads research projects focusing on the interplay of interoception and emotion throughout different stages of life.
