Professor Dr. Gadi Rothenberg

Biography

Gadi Rothenberg is the Chair of Heterogeneous Catalysis and Sustainable Chemistry at the University of Amsterdam, leading the Heterogeneous Catalysis Sustainable Chemistry group. His research focuses on designing new catalysts for bulk chemicals and clean energy applications, with a strong emphasis on decarbonization, understanding surface reactions, and creating value from waste. He has authored textbooks on subjects such as 'Catalysis', 'Ceramic Membranes', and 'Innovation Management in Sustainable Chemistry'. Additionally, he serves as editor-in-chief of a four-volume Handbook on Porous Materials as part of the Energy & Climate reference series. Rothenberg's work integrates themes of innovation and entrepreneurship in chemistry. His prominent academic contributions extend to various patents and numerous publications in reputable journals. He has also recently taken on the role of Distinguished Visiting Professor in the Department of Energy and Power Engineering at Tsinghua University.
