Dr. Gagandeep Sood

Biography

Gagandeep S. Sood is an Associate Professor of International History at the London School of Economics. He received his doctorate in history from Yale University and has held research and teaching positions at the University of Cambridge, the European University Institute, and Yale University. His primary research interests encompass the history of the Middle East and South Asia during the 17th to 19th centuries, particularly examining the roles of Europe, China, and India in the formation of the modern world. His expertise includes the Mughal Empire, the Ottoman Empire, early modern globalization, and the transition to colonialism in the Middle East and South Asia. He teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in his department and has contributed significantly to the field of Global History as a co-editor of the Journal of Global History.
