Biography

Gail Alvares is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Western Australia and a principal research fellow at CliniKids, Kids Research Institute Australia. She leads a program of research focused on mental health and wellbeing for autistic children and their families. Her work is currently supported by the Stan Perron Charitable Research Foundation, aiming to discover innovative ways to address emerging mental health challenges faced by autistic children. In 2016, she was recognized as one of ABC’s Radio National “Top 5 40” scientists in Australia and, in 2022, named among the “Top 40 under 40” autism researchers globally by Spectrum News. Gail is passionate about science communication and actively involves the community in her research. Her expertise contributes to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
