Biography

Gail Henderson is the Allgood Professor of Business Law at Queen's Law, focusing on critical areas including consumer financial protection, financial literacy, investor education, securities regulation, corporate law, and contracts. She leads a significant interdisciplinary research project funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) aimed at enhancing financial literacy within Ontario's elementary schools. Henderson has also co-investigated the Canadian Financial Diaries Project, which examines financial practices among different demographics. As a regular media commentator, she raises awareness on matters of financial literacy and consumer protection. Appointed to the Ontario Securities Commission’s Investor Advisory Panel, she previously chaired the Consumer Protection Advisory Committee for the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada. A distinguished alumni of Osgoode Hall Law School, she holds several degrees including an LLB and an LLM, and was recognized with the Gold Medal upon graduation. Before joining Queen’s Law in 2016, she served as an Assistant Professor at the University of Alberta's Faculty of Law. Her recent research endeavors include a project that scrutinizes the integrity of financial literacy education materials, further establishing her dedication to improving the landscape of financial education and regulation.
