Dr. Gail Heyman

Biography

Gail Heyman is a Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of California, San Diego. Her research focuses on social cognition, particularly during childhood development. She examines various facets of social cognition, including social categories, implicit bias, self-presentation, reputation management, reasoning, traits, abilities, and achievement motivation. Another key area of her research is moral behavior, interpersonal trust, and the influence of culture on development. Heyman's studies often look at how young children navigate complex social situations and how they understand and react to the behaviors of others.
