Biography

Gail Lythgoe is a Lecturer at the Edinburgh Law School specializing in Global Law. She has contributed to the development and delivery of the new Global Law LLB program at the University of Edinburgh. Before joining Edinburgh, Gail taught international law and international relations at the Universities of Manchester and St Andrews, and she has also guest taught at Sciences Po in Paris and the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa. Gail's academic journey includes studies at the Universities of Edinburgh, Glasgow, and the National University of Singapore, as well as a position as a visiting researcher at the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Religious and Ethnic Diversity in Göttingen, Germany. In addition to her teaching, she is actively involved in various committees and working groups focused on gender parity and decolonization in legal education. Her monograph, 'The Rebirth of Territory', is set to be published by Cambridge University Press in 2024. Gail's research interests span a broad range of topics, including public and private international law, global governance, social legal theory, and the impacts of legal technology on global health and security.
