Biography

Gail Wight holds an MFA in New Genres from the San Francisco Art Institute and a BFA in Studio Interrelated Media from the Massachusetts College of Art. She has an extensive international exhibition record, including a dozen solo exhibits across North America and Great Britain. Her work is included in major collections, such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Wight has held several artist residencies such as at Symbiotica in Western Australia and the Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Center in Italy. She is currently represented by the Patricia Sweetow Gallery in San Francisco. Wight has served in various academic roles; she was an Associate Professor and later an Emeritus Faculty at Stanford University's Department of Art and Art History. Additionally, she has been involved in multiple artist-in-residence programs at prestigious institutions and has received numerous accolades for her contributions to the field of art and education including the Hoagland Award for Innovations in Teaching from Stanford University and several nominations for the Rockefeller New Media Art Award. Her academic contributions also include advising and committee roles in various educational and professional organizations.
