Dr. Gale Lucas

Biography

Gale M. Lucas is a Research Associate Professor at the University of Southern California in the Viterbi School of Engineering, working at the USC Institute for Creative Technologies (ICT). He obtained a BA from Willamette University in 2005 and a PhD from Northwestern University in 2010. Following his education, he taught for several years at small liberal arts colleges before returning for a postdoctoral position under Dr. Jon Gratch at ICT. He then continued his career at ICT as a senior research associate and eventually became a research faculty member. Dr. Lucas's research primarily focuses on human-computer interaction, affective computing, and trust in automation, with specific interests in rapport, disclosure, trust, persuasion, negotiation, virtual agents, and social robots.
