Biography

Galit Sarfaty is an Associate Professor at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law. She holds a J.D. from Yale Law School and both M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Anthropology from the University of Chicago, as well as an A.B. summa cum laude from Harvard University. A legal scholar and anthropologist, Professor Sarfaty analyzes how law and legal institutions operate in practice, especially in the context of transnational regulation and corporate human rights compliance in global supply chains. Her research investigates the role of corporate actors in international lawmaking and the use of quantitative regulatory tools in global economic governance. Her work has been published in leading law journals and books, including those from Stanford University Press. Prior to her current position, Professor Sarfaty was the Canada Research Chair in Global Economic Governance and held several academic appointments at institutions such as the University of British Columbia and the University of Pennsylvania. She has also been a Fellow at Harvard Law School and a Visiting Scholar at the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
