Biography

Gamze Dane is currently tenured Associate Professor in Digitally-enabled Urban Development at the Department of Built Environment of Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). With a strong interdisciplinary background, Gamze holds a Ph.D. in Urban Planning and a Master's in Geographical Information Systems (GIS) for Decision Making. Her areas of expertise include decision-support systems for urban planning, human-environment interaction, GIS, urban informatics, and data analytics. Gamze serves as Principal Investigator for numerous large-scale European and national projects, having gained vast experience in transdisciplinary research while working with citizens, SMEs, and NGOs in various European cities including Eindhoven, Helmond, Bologna, Lisbon, and Skopje. Gamze is committed to enabling sustainable urban transformations by viewing cities as socio-technical systems and advocating for citizen-centered, data-driven approaches. She develops quantitative methods and digital tools, including VR-based digital twins and web platforms, to design decision support systems that foster public participation in urban transformation processes. Furthermore, she conducts urban data science research to understand and predict citizens' behavior during urban interventions. At TU/e, Gamze supervises students at various academic levels and leads education innovation projects that integrate modern technologies into the curriculum. She has participated in numerous conferences and organized webinars, and is a regular guest lecturer and visiting scholar at various institutions.
