Biography

Gan Zheng currently leads the Connected Systems Group at the University of Warwick, UK. He received his Bachelor of Engineering and Master of Engineering degrees from Tianjin University in Tianjin, China, and obtained his PhD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Hong Kong in January 2008. His professional journey includes research visiting positions at University College London, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, and University of Luxembourg. He served as a Lecturer in Communications at the University of Essex from September 2013 to February 2016, then became a Professor in Signal Processing and Wireless Communications at Loughborough University until August 2022. Gan Zheng is recognized for his contributions to the field, earning the IEEE Signal Processing Letters Paper Award in 2013, the GLOBECOM Paper Award in 2015, and the IEEE Technical Committee on Green Communications & Computing Paper Award in 2018. Additionally, he is a Fellow of the IEEE and has been listed as a Highly-Cited Researcher in 2019 by Clarivate Analytics. His research interests focus on wireless communications networks, with a particular emphasis on AI/ML optimization, reconfigurable intelligent surfaces, space-air-ground integrated networks, and wireless energy transfer.
