Gareth Clay is a Professor of Geography at the University of Manchester, specializing in the physical and social dimensions of wildfires, peatlands, and organic matter cycling. His research investigates the complex interactions involved in fire-driven landscapes, including fire drivers, predictions, environmental impacts, and associated policy governance. Gareth's diverse expertise encompasses various funded projects that integrate physical geography, social sciences, and planning to tackle contemporary environmental challenges. He has held significant academic positions, including Reader in Physical Geography and Senior Lecturer, and has contributed actively to postgraduate research opportunities.
