Biography

Professor Gareth Inman serves as the Director of Research in the School of Cancer Sciences at the University of Glasgow and holds the position of Associate Dean for Research in the MVLS College Senior Management. His research is focused on the TGFβ superfamily of cytokines, studying their roles in cancer biology and their involvement in squamous cancers. His laboratory's efforts seek to understand how TGFβ signalling regulates tumour progression, particularly in cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC) and other squamous tumour subtypes. Through the use of in-vitro, ex-vivo, and in-vivo pre-clinical models, his work aims to identify driver genes and pathways critical to the progression of these cancers. Professor Inman’s extensive research includes investigating health inequalities related to cancer outcomes and developing novel therapeutic strategies for managing high-risk patients. His commitment to medical science is evidenced by multiple grants he has received from notable institutions to improve treatment outcomes for head and neck cancer patients.
